Our builder has now advised us that if we want to keep the double hung windows, it will cost an extra $6,000 to get windows that comply with the BAL40 bushfire rating.  Bugger that! 

 So after a bit of discussion & research, we’re going to have to settle on sliding windows.  We didn’t want awning windows and couldn’t get casement for the builders supplier.
